Paramahansa Yogananda was born Mukunda Lal Ghosh; January 5, 1893 – March 7, 1952.

Yogananda was the Indian monk, yogi and guru who wrote the book ‘Autobiography of a Yogi’ and introduced millions to the teachings of meditation and yoga, and who is credited with bringing yoga to the West.

The word 'Paramahansa' signifies one who is Awakened in all realms. Para is the state of Grace that one experiences of The Infinite through vibrations.

Paramahansa is the highest level of spiritual development in which a union with ultimate reality has been attained by a sannyasi (religious Hindu mendicant, who lives on alms alone).

Autobiograpy of a Yogi is the book that Steve Jobs would give as a farewell gift to those who attended his Memorial Service. In a brown box, each attendee received this book, as his last message to those he was closest to was, “Actualize yourself.”

You can listen to ‘Autobiography of a Yogi’ on YouTube or you can go to the www.Ananda.org website and read the book there.
